Super Bowl XXVI Half Time Show

MC Shinya was the lead choreographer for 50 ballroom dancers for the XXVI Super Bowl Halftime Show in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Ballroom dancers were center stage with Olympic champion ice skaters Dorothy Hamill and Scott Hamilton along with the Latin music star Gloria Estefan and Miami Sound Machine.

Super Valu National 100-Year Anniversary Celebration

Super Valu held a national celebration in 1999 for the 100-year anniversary at the Minneapolis Convention Center that brought over 10,000 nationwide executives together. MC Shinya was the creator and choreographer for the show "Dancing Through the Decades". This was a recreation of the dances from: the Roaring 20's, Boogie Woogie 40's, Sock Hop 50’s, Rock and Roll 60's, Disco 70's, Country 80's and the Hot Salsa 90's – a dance show extravaganza! Along with dance mixers, MC Shinya engaged all 10,000 guests on seven different stages and dance floors in the 100,000 square foot convention venue!

F. Scott Fitzgerald's 100th Birthday Celebration

In September of 1996, MC Shinya and 12 professional dancers recreated dance exhibitions from the 20’s such as the Charleston, Black Bottom, and the Quick Step for the celebration of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s 100th birthday. The celebration was held at the Fitzgerald Theater and Landmark Center of St. Paul, Minnesota. The shows were performed along side the radio program legend Garrison Keillor and his orchestra.

Ballroom and Latin Dance Competitor

MC Shinya and his wife, Marcy McHenry, are long time successful dance competitors, competing through the 80's and 90's. They have performed and competed at many distinguished dance competitions nationwide. Competitions such as the Ohio Star Ball (televised every year on PBS), U.S. Ballroom Championships, Twin Cities Open and many others across the United States. Over the years they have made appearances on KSTP TV, PBS, WCCO TV, KARE 11 TV, and even on the Japanese television show "This Is My Life".

University of Minnesota Freshman Orientation Party

Every year MC Shinya leads 5,000 incoming freshman students through various Latin, Swing and live dances during their Freshman Orientation Party for the University of Minnesota. This unique task of getting thousands of students to dance simultaneously is quite an amazing event to see and experience!
